Conect 2026
February 2, 2026In the last week of January the ExPEDite project took part in the OASC Conference in Fundão (PT), joining 120 participants from cities, communities, knowledge institutes, and other key organisations. The event provided a valuable opportunity to exchange on Local Digital Twins (LDTs), Positive Energy Districts (PEDs), and effective stakeholder engagement for sustainable urban transformation.
ExPEDite hosted a dedicated deep-dive session titled “The ExPEDite LDT-CitiVerse Sandbox as a Virtual Living Lab for Engaging Stakeholders in the Implementation of Positive Energy Districts.” The session presented the ExPEDite Living Lab in Riga (Latvia), a real-life innovation environment applying a quadruple-helix approach to engage citizens, researchers, municipal representatives, and private-sector partners in co-designing, testing, and evaluating PED solutions. With a focus on the LDT-CitiVerse sandbox, the session highlighted how virtual living labs and gamification can increase awareness and positively influence behaviour towards energy efficiency.
The session was presented by Emilia Risu (LAUREA) and Vincent Demortier (OASC) and sparked great interaction and exchange with participants.
