Why Positive Clean Energy Districts Matter: Building Europe’s Clean Energy Future
June 19, 2026
Understanding the Social Impact of Positive Energy Districts
September 8, 20269–10 September 2026 | Menton, France
The ExPEDite project will be joining the FIWARE Global Summit 2026, taking place on 9–10 September in Menton, France, bringing together the FIWARE community and experts working on open source, open standards, smart solutions, data spaces and digital twins.
With two days of technical sessions, workshops and community exchange, the Summit offers an excellent opportunity to connect with organisations and projects working at the forefront of digital transformation.
ExPEDite joins the Digital Twins track
ExPEDite will be represented in the Digital Twins track on 9 September, with a session exploring the connection between Local Digital Twins, NGSI-LD and virtual worlds.
Open Source LDT and Citiverse: Connect NGSI-LD with Virtual Worlds through Cesium.js, Three.js, and More
9 September | 14:50–15:10
Digital Twins Track | Salle Chambord – 2nd Floor
The session will be presented by Vincent Demortier, Creative Technologist at OASC, and will explore how open-source technologies can help connect NGSI-LD-based Local Digital Twins (LDTs) with virtual worlds and Citiverse environments.

Continuing the conversation on 10 September
The Digital Twin conversation continues on 10 September, with another session that will be particularly interesting for anyone following developments in standards and interoperability:
Progressing MIMs and Digital Twin Reference Architecture Standards
10 September | 14:30–15:30
Salle Chambord – 2nd Floor
This session will focus on the development of European standards for Local Digital Twins, including work around Minimum Interoperability Mechanisms (MIMs) and Digital Twin Reference Architectures.
The session is particularly relevant for ExPEDite and its community as interoperability and common standards are essential for enabling digital twins to communicate, share data and work together across platforms, organisations and territories.
Connecting open standards, digital twins and cities
The FIWARE Global Summit provides an important space for discussions around the technologies and standards needed to build the smart and sustainable solutions of tomorrow. FIWARE itself promotes open-source technologies and open standards for smart solutions, Digital Twins and Data Spaces across different domains of digital transformation.
For ExPEDite, participating in the Summit is an opportunity to engage with this community, exchange knowledge and contribute to the ongoing conversation around interoperable Digital Twins, open technologies and the future of smarter, more sustainable cities.

See you in Menton!
If you are attending the FIWARE Global Summit 2026, make sure to join the Digital Twins sessions and discover how the latest developments in open standards and technologies are helping shape the next generation of digital twins.
We look forward to meeting the FIWARE community in Menton and continuing the conversation on open, interoperable and people-centred digital futures!
