Data is at the heart of the ExPEDite project. Sharing data while maintaining data sovereignty, as well as acquiring new data while ensuring trust and quality, is essential to unlocking its full potential.

With this in mind, ExPEDite is fully aligned with the European Strategy for Data through the creation of the ExPEDite Data Space, enabled by the Data Spaces Integration Suite (DSIS). The data space provides a secure and standardized environment where interested participants, both within and beyond the project, can publish valuable data assets or discover and consume data.

These standards are defined and promoted by the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA). When project requirements call for it, the ExPEDite solution can also connect to other data spaces built according to IDSA standards. This interoperability is enabled by the connector integrated into the DSIS, which is based on the Eclipse Dataspace Connector (EDC) and follows the Sovity approach. EDC is one of the most mature connector implementations available and is fully compatible with the Data Space Protocol (DSP).

Security and trust are further supported through the combination of Keycloak and the Dynamic Attribute Provisioning Service (DAPS). Together, these services provide secure authentication and authorization by managing digital identities, clients, and security tokens, enabling trusted communication between connectors.

The ExPEDite Data Space therefore provides the foundation for secure, sovereign, and interoperable data sharing—helping turn data into a valuable resource for collaboration, innovation, and decision-making across the project.
